2018 Year End Review

Posted by Famore on Dec 16th 2018

2018 is already come and gone, we look toward a new year with a sense of excitement and hope. This is Famore’s year-end review. Spring 2018 the scissor guys hit the road and attended a total of 8 shows. They visited Lakeland (FL), Charlotte (NC), Atlanta (GA), Cleveland (OH), Manchester (NH), Paducah (KY), and Portland (OR). Through their Spring travels they took the time to speak with new, existing customers, educators, and industry leaders as to what kind of tools they want to see Famore make next. After Spring founder and president Brint Fanizza (Scissors Man) made his bi-annual, month long trip to our factory in Pakistan. In the meantime, our Vice President held down the fort and worked on some new projects for Famore.

The first major project which has been three years in the making is new Famore packaging. It will not include the entire line of products as we must make this change gradually. We plan on changing first the packaging for our larger scissors and transition to the smaller sizes in the years to come. The next big project coming to completion is the famorecutlery.com site. Our website is getting a much-needed update. The checkout process will be smoother and more comprehensive. We will be able to more easily run monthly and holiday specials. As always, we will accept a variety of online payments. As summer ended the Scissor guys got a chance to meet and join a creative space.

GeekSpace Gwinnett is a non-profit makerspace located in a northern suburb of the metro Atlanta area. This space offers members a wide range of tools, machines, learning opportunities and many more creative opportunities. Our main draw to GeekSpace is their cosplay creative space. Very quickly the guys discovered other interesting members and disciplines. Soon after joining GeekSpace the Famore team attended their first ever DragonCon. DragonCon is the largest if not one of the largest comics, cosplay, gaming and all fandom event in the southeast and possibly the country. This year the show drew a crowd of 88,000 attendees. The show is held in downtown Atlanta every year at the end of August and beginning of September. The scissors guys got to meet a ton of new friends and some celebrities in the industry. They have already secured their booth for 2019. As the summer cooled down into fall the Scissor guys made their way to Fredericksburg, VA for a sewing and quilting. One of the many OSQE trade shows Famore attends annually or bi-annually.

After Virginia the scissors guys attended the biggest B2B and consumer quilt show in the nation. Quilts, Inc hosts their show in the George R. Brown convention center every year. This event takes up the entire first floor of the center and utilizes classrooms in the 2nd floor. In Houston the Scissor guys met with more friends, educators and industry experts. Many new ideas were shared, and more projects added to complete for 2019. As the year closes out the guys are in Pakistan once again ironing out the details and products to be released for 2019. Thank you all for following our work, products and projects throughout this year. We look forward to another amazing year in 2019.
